Made and animated in Blender.

In January of 2022, I was commissioned by the YouTube channel Kings & Generals to produce two 17-minute documentaries tackling ancient history. This is the first video, focused on seven landmarks, monuments, and locales from Antiquity.

For asset production, I modeled all of the wonders showcased in the video in Blender, and a number of ancillary buildings. Likewise, arrangement of most scenes, aside from Alexandria and Nineveh, was done by me, as were the camera animations. The miscellaneous houses and vegetation that comprise the different cities came from K&G’s asset library, with the city of Alexandria having been reused from a previous video, and designed by fellow animator Leif Sick. Additionally, the terracotta warriors were sourced from sanchiesp on TurboSquid (whose asset pack you can view here).

I began production on this video in late January 2022 and concluded in late April 2022. This was the largest-scale solo project/video I ever worked on up to this point, and it took a lot of trial and error to figured out the finer points of a video production pipeline, especially as I had to pass off my files to Kings & Generals to render multiple times. Still, I am very proud of the end result, and thankful that I had the opportunity to work on this, and the Mycenae video that followed (which you can watch here).
