Made with Blender, Zbrush, and Substance Painter.

This piece represents two weeks’ worth of work during February 2023. As part of my game art course, I started with a low-poly base mesh for the skull in Blender, then transformed it into a high-detail sculpt in Zbrush. Finally, I applied a texture in Substance Painter, and made minor adjustments.

The following week, I chose to model the rest of the skeleton, with a similar workflow. I tried to be sparing with the amount of detail I modeled into the low-poly mesh in Blender, saving the intricate details for Zbrush. For parts like the pelvis and the spinal cord, it was much more practical to sculpt on detail. For the hands and feet, however, it was more practical to model the tiny bones that comprise each in Blender.

I may revisit this skeleton to retopologize and possibly rig. As is, this was a fun study in organic modeling and sculpting.
